Frequently asked questions
Can I work during my studies?
Yes: 20 hrs/week during term time and 40 hrs/week during holidays (June to September and the end-of-year break), with no separate permit thanks to Stamp 2.
How does Stamp 1G work?
After graduation, you get 12 months (bachelor’s) or up to 24 months (master’s) of full-time work without a sponsor. It is the gateway to the Critical Skills Employment Permit.
Which scholarships can I aim for?
The Government of Ireland scholarship (GOI-IES: fees plus €10,000, 60 recipients per year), and university merit scholarships (€2,000 to €10,000). Your motivation letter carries real weight here.
Is housing in Dublin manageable?
It is the hard part: demand outstrips supply. We start the search as soon as you are admitted and look at private residences, host families and neighbouring towns.
Can I aim for the big tech companies?
Yes: Google, Meta, LinkedIn and their peers recruit interns and recent graduates directly on Irish campuses. An Irish master’s is a genuine shortcut into these careers.
