🇧🇪Belgium

Respected French-speaking universities, capped tuition and file-based admission, with no entrance exam for most fields.

Respected French-speaking universities, capped tuition and Brussels at the heart of Europe: Belgium is a natural destination for Tunisian baccalaureate holders, with no entrance exam for most fields.

Why Belgium?

  • Capped tuitionFrom €835 to 4,175/yr depending on the field at Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles universities: a predictable, reasonable cost.
  • In French, no entrance examMost fields admit on the strength of your file with the baccalaureate. Only medicine, dentistry and civil engineering hold an entrance exam.
  • At the center of EuropeParis 1 hr 20 min away by train, Amsterdam 2 hrs, the European institutions on your doorstep: highly international internships and career prospects.
  • Compact student citiesUCLouvain, ULB, ULiège: dense campus life where student housing stays affordable.

Admission requirements

  • Baccalaureate with diploma equivalence (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles)
  • Equivalence file submitted by July 15 at the latest; we aim for spring to stay within visa timelines
  • Legalized transcripts
  • Proof of French level depending on the program
  • CV and motivation letter

The long-stay visa requires admission, funds of about €800/month (blocked account or sponsor) and a medical certificate. The equivalence deadline shapes the whole project: we start early.

Frequently asked questions

Can I work while I study?

Yes: the Belgian student contract allows 650 hrs/yr at reduced social contributions, roughly 20 hrs/week during term time and far more in summer.

Is my Tunisian baccalaureate accepted?

Yes, with the diploma equivalence (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles). The equivalence file must be submitted by July 15 for the September intake; we prepare it from winter onward to keep a safety margin for the visa.

Are there entrance exams?

Not for most fields. Medicine and dentistry hold an entrance exam in summer; civil engineering has its own special mathematics exam.

Which scholarships can I aim for?

Reduced tuition for students of modest means, ARES scholarships for certain master’s programs and each university’s own aid schemes.

Can I stay in Belgium after graduating?

Yes: a 12-month residence permit to look for a job or start a business after graduation, then the single permit through your employer.
